Microsoft’s booming B2B business
If you follow Microsoft news, you would have seen that Microsoft surpassed Google in market valuation earlier this year to become the world’s third most valuable company. This is after Satya Nadella took over as CEO in 2014, shifting the company’s focus to modern technologies like cloud computing, artificial intelligence, quantum computing and mixed reality.
It’s clearly working. In the last quarter of 2017, Microsoft’s cloud revenues grew 56%, reaching $5.3 billion.
Part of Microsoft’s success is an effective partner program, whereby Microsoft encourages IT resellers, cloud services providers and managed services providers to sell, help deploy, integrate and support its AI-infused cloud products such as Office 365, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Dynamics etc.

Microsoft’s aim with the CSP program is to empower local IT companies (like First Technology in South Africa) who know their clients’ businesses inside-out, and who have worked hard to build long-term relationships, to add value to the exchange between those clients and Microsoft.
For example, moving your applications to cloud via Microsoft Azure may feel very daunting if your IT team is small or overburdened. Likewise, deploying and integrating the AI-infused Microsoft Dynamics may be a task too complex for your IT department.
